Published:

Srinagar, Nov 21: In a significant move aimed at ensuring public safety and reducing accidents involving minors, authorities have issued a directive prohibiting the sale of petrol and diesel to individuals under the age of 18 or those without a valid driving license, in the district Shopian.

The order seeks to address the growing number of accidents in traffic-prone areas caused by minors operating vehicles. It mandates that fuel station operators must adhere strictly to the following rules:

No Sale to Minors: Petrol and diesel cannot be sold to individuals below 18 years of age. Driving License Requirement: Only customers presenting a valid driving license can purchase fuel.

Additionally, violations of these rules will attract severe penalties, including fines, suspension, or even the revocation of operating licenses for fuel stations. Legal action under relevant laws may also be initiated against offenders.

The order is effective immediately, and authorities have urged all fuel distributors and station operators to comply. Strict monitoring and enforcement measures will be undertaken to ensure adherence to the directive.
