Remove our electric poles and wires we can’t afford hefty amount of electricity bills

Bandipora, May 23:- Hike in electricity bills in Tanghat area of Bandipora parts forced residents to protest against the power development department.

Several families of the Tanghat area of Bandipora, expressed their frustration with the exorbitant electricity charges they have received and raised slogans against the PDD department.

The protesters, consisting of people from various socio-economic backgrounds, chanted slogans demanding justice and fair billing practices.

They alleged that their electricity bills had skyrocketed in recent months, despite no significant increase in power consumption or changes in their lifestyles. Many residents reported receiving bills that were two to three times higher than their usual charges.

The area usually caters to the Gujjar population who migrate to green pastures for six months and live in mud houses with their livestock.

The protesters while speaking with the media said that we belong to the SC castes and we don’t have much income, we hardly manage our daily resources.

Protesters appealed to local authorities to look into the matter and resolve their genuine grievances as soon as possible.
