Srinagar, Nov 25: SSP Traffic Srinagar City Muzafar Ahmad Shah Monday said that responsible parents can play a crucial role in preventing road accidents. He displayed a disturbing photograph showing a parent encouraging a child to drive a scooty, with the parent taking a backseat and the child handling the steering.
The SSP expressed concern over the mentality of parents who prioritize pride over their child’s safety. “What will happen to this kid? Isn’t it our kid, and aren’t we responsible for all these mishaps?” he asked.
“ Despite the rising number of road accidents, parents are not learning from their mistakes and are instead encouraging their children to drive two or three-wheelers.”
The SSP as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust lamented that parents are violating laws and putting their children’s lives at risk. “We have to think as a society. I feel sorry for these parents who encourage kids to drive,” he said. [KNT]
