Srinagar,18 June:;In a significant legal development, the lawyers representing the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have firmly rejected the interim bail plea of Engineer Rashid. The decision was based on the apprehension that granting bail to Engineer Rashid could set a precedent for other accused individuals in similar cases.

Engineer Rashid, also known as Er. Rasheed, had sought interim bail to attend to parliamentary duties.

His lawyer argued before the court, emphasizing the urgency of his client’s oath-taking ceremony. However, NIA lawyers countered this plea by highlighting the serious nature of the charges against Engineer Rashid, particularly in relation to a money laundering case.

“If bail is granted to Engineer Rashid,” stated the NIA lawyers, “it could pave the way for bail requests from other accused individuals involved in this case.”

This stance underscores the agency’s commitment to maintaining consistency in their approach to handling legal matters and ensuring that individuals accused of serious offenses are not granted bail prematurely.

The courtroom drama unfolded as Engineer Rashid’s legal team pressed for temporary relief, while NIA lawyers remained steadfast in their opposition, citing the need to uphold the integrity of the ongoing investigation and legal process.

While the outcome of Engineer Rashid’s bail plea remains pending, the NIA’s stance has underscored their stance on maintaining rigorous standards in handling cases of alleged financial misconduct and related offenses.
