Ashok Bhan visits Shri Maha Acharya Abhinav Gupt cave in Beerwah

Budgam, May 30: Noted Senior Lawyer, Supreme Court of India; a prominent Kashmiri leader and an international crusader for upholding human rights at all UN forums and Tribunals Ashok Bhan visited cave shrine of 10th century Kashmiri Hindu mystic, philosopher and proponent of ancient Kashmiri Shaivism, Shri Maha Acharya Abhinav Gupt, located on top of a hillock in Beerwah in Budgam district of Kashmir Valley.

Ashok Bhan took stock of the local infrastructural development of the cave shrine to facilitate religious pilgrimage tourism and provide employment to local community.

Ashok Bhan also interacted with the local Kashmiri Muslim community of Beerwah and stressed on the need for restoration of Kashmir’s ancient heritage, which according to him is a joint legacy of both Kashmiri Pundits and Kashmiri Muslims.

Bhan in his interaction with the local Muslim community of Beerwah highlighted the critical significance of Shri Maha Acharya Abhinav Gupt in the development of Kashmiri Shaivism, also known as Trika Shaivism. Bhan pointed to some of the significant literary works of Shri Maha Acharya Abhinav Gupt including Tantra Loka and Tantra Sara, which helped in shaping the contours of Kashmiri Shaivism.

Bhan stressed on the need for taking pride in Kashmir’s historical, architectural, cultural and literary heritage, which is the collective legacy of all Kashmiris, around the world.
